Climbing Snowdon for August Bank Holiday
Posted on August 20, 2005 in Snowdon
The Kilimanjaro team will be climbing up Snowdon for the August 2005 Bank Holiday. It’s a practice session for our climb up Kilimanjaro in January 2006 and should be a good test of our fitness levels.
According to the Snowdon site:
Snowdon is the highest mountain in England and Wales 1085m or 3560 ft also known by its local Welsh Language name Yr Wyddfa (The Tomb). Each year hundreds of thousands of visitors visit the mountain to enjoy its unique presence and share the exhilaration of scaling its slopes by one of the many paths described in this website.
Of course, Snowdon doesn’t even compare to what we will have to go through when walking up Kilimanjaro but it’s a good start to our fitness and training programme. We’ll be taking the Horshoe Route. The Snowdon site provides you with a panoramic view of the summit as well as a gallery of images. You can also take a look at Snowdon via Flickr, Google Maps, Google Earth.
Will be blogging about our experiences in the week after the climb.
