Great Blog on Mount Kilimanjaro
Posted on November 20, 2005 in Sport, Climbing, Kilimanjaro
I’ve been doing a lot of reading in preparation for the Mount Kilimanjaro climb we are undertaking in January 2006. My friend Pierre Celliers, who has organised the trip, has prepared a comprehensive folder for each member of the team with all the information we need. In addition to this, I’ve been reading a lot of stuff online and various books (I’ll blog on the books later).
An excellent Kilimanjaro blog I came across today is MtKilimanjaro.org which is a resource guide for every question you have about climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. Read personal stories, hear expert opinions, discover the best routes, and discuss everything about trekking around Africa’s highest mountain.

Hello,
I have recently gone to Kilimanjaro and was very proud to have made it to the top.
I found the trip to be very difficult and extremely rewarding.
Thanks for having a site dedicated to Kilimanjaro. I hope to post again with some pictures.
Sincerely,

Congratulations on making it to the top, which route did you take?

I went on the machama route. It poured rain all of the time until the night of the summit...then we summited in a whiteout. We had planned it to be summiting on the full moon, but it snowed very hard all night long. The clouds parted in the morning at the summit and it was absolutely stunning!!!
I would do it again, rain, snow and all.
What it you first time up? When did you go?

Yes it was my first and probably the last (in a while at least) time up. We went in January 2006
